With the ZZ Chops playing to this attentive crowd, you’d never guess huge flames engulfed this back porch just hours before.
Patrons call it “The Sun Porch.” It was still closed, damaged by the fire.
“We have a working environment in the exterior of the building. [The fire] started in the bushes, then worked its way up the side and eventually into the building,” said Folsom Fire Department Battalion Chief Calvin Howard.
Flames could have ravaged the 1940’s all-wooden building.
“The fire extinguishers, which some people complain about, saved this old building. It was just escaping from the outside to the interior when the sprinklers got it,” said Murray Weaver, owner of the pub.
“We came in actually and we smelled the smoke,“ said patron Brian McInerney.
That’s about the only hint of fire as the doors reopened this afternoon.
“Our buddy’s band is playing, ZZ Chops, and we wanted to come see them. So we were glad we were able to get in,” McInerney said.
“They really wanted to play today. So that was great that they were able to play,” said patron Brad Matsui.
