Lodi park officials are upset at a spike in graffiti vandalism at Legion Park.  The administration building which houses the restrooms was hit hard over the weekend. It was cleaned up by the city graffiti crew on Monday morning, but was hit again that night.

Police say the graffiti was gang tagging. Nearby residents fear it could lead to more gang activity. Janet Perryman has lived across the street for nearly 40 years. She said she’s seen drug sales going on at the park.

“They are bold, they do it in broad daylight in front of children playing in the park and their families,” said Perryman.

Perryman says neighbors keep a watch on the park and hope that the rash of vandalism isn’t a sign of things to come. She does praise the city for its policy of cleaning up graffiti within 24 hours of finding it.

That also goes for Stockton resident Yuitha Soth, who was at the park with his girlfriend.

“I come here because it’s a nicer park than most of the parks in Stockton,” said Soth.

He says he understands why families might want to shy away from a park that’s plastered with graffiti.

“It looks bad,” said Soth.

Park officials say graffiti comes and goes in cycles, but the last few days were especially bad. Police patrols have been increased and the city is considering more lighting and security cameras since most of the damage occurs at night or early morning.

OK, when you have really had enough, visit us at Nograffiti.com. We are a non profit information network of anti graffiti professionals from around the world. We know of a system that has been proven to work to stop graffiti. A recent city reduced their graffiti by 87% in three months. Look at the savings your city could have. Painting over graffiti is good, but it does nothing to stop graffiti, the vandals will come back or will go to other locations. You need to stop them by catching them and we can show you how it is done. Seems that at least a city could make an inquiry into this program that has already been proven to work in a city. ALL of our information is 100% free of charge!

A whole lot of new residents from Stockton have come to Lodi…people who wanted their children to have a safer nicer place to live. I wish they would leave because all they did was bring their troublesome kids and cause Rents to soar because Lodi is trying to keep undesirables out I hate the fact this is all true because people will say I’m racist or just rude and mean. But look around, read the paper and check out how rent has risen. I hope they stay empty. And when they do rent out its usually 6 months and the places are trashed and empty again. Is trashing and vandalizing really how you want to leave your mark ?? Well sad for you :(
