Promoters of a major country music concert have pulled their event out of Placer County.

Darius Rucker, formerly of Hootie & the Blowfish,  was scheduled to perform in front of nearly 15,000 fans at the Placer fairgrounds on August 17.  It would have been the largest event ever held there.

Placer County Fair’s CEO said he had a solid plan in place to host the big event.  But the City of Roseville disagreed and filed a court injunction against the plan, citing traffic, sanitation and safety concerns for parts of the city surrounding the county fairgrounds.

As a result of the injunction, CBS Radio, the concert promoter, decided to move the show to Cal Expo.

The fair CEO and Roseville City Leaders are both planning to meet again to discuss ways to host large-scale events at the fairgrounds in the future.
