Police have taken into custody a woman wanted in connection to a fire near N. 18th Street Thursday afternoon.

Witnesses identified a woman as a suspect in the dry brush fire that started a little before 2:30 p.m. Fire crews were quick to respond to the scene due to concerns that the inferno could spread.

Evangeline Deutch, 42, was found at the scene and arrest.

Deutsch is also said to be a person of interest in other fires along the American River Parkway last week. She is noted to have a history of arson, Sacramento Fire Department officials say.

Reportedly, homeless people along the river saw a woman light last Thursday’s fire along the American River Parkway.

Since last week, investigators have been looking into six possible arson incidents.
