PATTERSON—

A 15-year-old boy was stabbed in the arm after he ran into a man trying to burglarize the teen’s home Monday morning.

According to a release from the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department, the teen was at his Bella Flora Lane home alone when, around 9:40 a.m., he heard a noise downstairs.

The boy walked downstairs and saw that a window had been broken into, so he got a knife for protection and called 911.

Dispatchers told the teen to leave the home. But, as the teen was leaving, he ran into the person who had just broken in – starting a fight. At some point during the fight, the suspect – 21-year-old Oakland resident Sean McCullough – was able to take the knife and stab the teen in the arm.

McCullough is then said to have gotten into his car where another person, 22-year-old Stockton resident Sharde Smith, was waiting. As the two were pealing out of the scene, two sheriff’s patrol cars were just showing up. McCullouch apparently turned his car and drove directly towards the deputies, forcing the deputies to swerve their car – clipping McCullouch’s car in the process.

McCullough then aimed his car for the other patrol car. This time, he hit the patrol car head-on, pushing it into the sidewalk.

Both McCullouch and Smith bolted out of their car. A deputy later caught McCullouch trying to jump some fences to avoid being caught. The deputy had to use a Taser on McCullouch to subdue him.

Smith was arrested a short distance away from the crash.

A search of McCullouch’s getaway car uncovered property stolen from the teen’s home. McCullouch now faces conspiracy, three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, burglary and reckless driving charges.

Smith faces conspiracy and burglary charges, and had a warrant out for her arrest.

The teen had to be taken to Emmanuel Hospital to be treated for the stab wound. He is expected to be OK. No deputies were seriously hurt in the incident.
