It’s been the standard; the status quo for as long as dating has been around.
Gentlemen pay the bill. End of story.
Many modern women can technically foot the bill on a first date. But – do they?
A new study presented at the American Sociological Association asked 17,000 heterosexual males and females in their mid-30’s: who pays, him or her?
84% of men and 58% of women said the man picks up the check — even well in to a relationship.
And here’s where it starts to get squirrely. Cat Bacon, author of “Get More Dates than Your Skinny Friends,” says men and women sometimes have trouble communicating.
“I think it’s innate for women; they want to be pursued. Just like men, they want to be a provider, they want to feel powerful, they want to feel necessary,” she says.
Yet, neither sex relays that. She offers, he denies. She doesn’t offer, he’s upset.
No one wins. And to think: all of this, for love.
