High school football season is here.

While prep football has become almost a 365 days-a-year sport, Monday was the first official day of fall practice for schools in the Sac Joaquin Section. Players are allowed to wear helmets, but no pads for the first two days of practice.

After completion of the two days of conditioning drills, teams can wear full pads beginning Wednesday.

The first games are scheduled for Aug. 30. Not all schools will play in what is called Zero Week. Friday, Sept. 6 marks Week One of the schedule.

Again this season, FOX40 will cover high school football like no one else. Our Final Quarter show will air every Friday night from 11 to 11:30 p.m. The first show, a half hour preview of the season, is set for Aug. 23 at 11 p.m.

We were at Lincoln High School in Stockton to kick-off our coverage on Monday. Head coach Brian Gray coming an 8-4 season, and facing a difficult non-conference schedule to begin the season.
