Detectives with the Roseville Police Department are seeking answers after the remains of a teen from Los Angeles County were found in Dry Creek.
The body of 19-year-old John Paul Alpert was found May 15 by someone fishing in the creek. Investigators say it appeared Alpert had been dead for a few months.
According to police, Alpert left Palmdale in March “to have an adventure,” hopping on a freight train with a group of people.
Alpert’s family says he stopped checking in not long after he left and he was reported missing on March 25. He was said to be a “reasonable and caring young man” who lived at home and went took classes at community college.
Investigators say Alpert’s body showed signs of blunt force trauma.
