According to police, Alpert left Palmdale in March “to have an adventure,” hopping on a freight train with a group of people.

Alpert’s family says he stopped checking in not long after he left and he was reported missing on March 25. He was said to be a “reasonable and caring young man” who lived at home and went took classes at community college.

Investigators say Alpert’s body showed signs of blunt force trauma.
