Calaveras County authorities are on the lookout for a man who approached a teen at a Valley Springs park Wednesday afternoon.

According to an alert from the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Officer, the incident happened at the Veterans Field playground around 4:45 p.m. A man is said to have driven up to the teen girl and offered her some marijuana.

The girl refused the offer, prompting the man to come closer to her. Coming too close for comfort, the girl bolted.

As she ran from the area, she could hear the suspect yelling at her as he drove away in his car.

Sheriff’s describe the man as white, about 6’ tall and with a husky build. His hair was long in the front and shorter in the back, with the color of his hair fading to light towards the back.

The man’s car was only described as an older-looking burgundy sedan with a lot of scratches. It looked to have Oregon plates.

Anyone who has seen the car or who may have any information about the suspect is asked to call Calaveras Sheriff’s at (209) 754-6500.
