The body of a 56-year-old man was found within the area burned by the Clover Fire, authorities announced Wednesday.

Deputies made the discovery late Tuesday after doing a welfare check of the area off of Coal Pit Road. The coroner’s office was called to the area after the burnt remains of a man was found.

Wednesday, the coroner’s office identified the man as Brian Stanley Henry. He is said to have refused to leave the area even after mandatory evacuation orders were sent out.

Cal Fire continues to investigate the incident.

The Clover Fire has burned just over 7,000 acres and is only 40% contained, as of Wednesday morning. 80 structures, including 30 homes, have been destroyed by the fire.
