A Lodi-area middle school secretary has been arrested for charges that she embezzled PTA funds and lied to police.
Susan Taylor, 58, works as a secretary at Millswood Middle School in Lodi. According to a media release from Lodi Police, Taylor has access to the funds from the Parent Club.
Back in April, Taylor filed a police report that alleged someone stole about $1,000 from the club. In the report, Taylor described a woman who had shown up at the school under the guise that she was picking up money for the club. Taylor, supposedly unknowingly, gave that woman the club’s money.
Tuesday, Taylor came clean and confessed to the principal of the school that she had stolen the money. Police also say that Taylor admitted to another theft of about $1,000 in the past month.
The school called Lodi Police, who soon arrested Taylor. She now faces two counts of embezzlement and one count of filing a false police report.
Police are still trying to figure out just how much money was actually stolen.
