Three people were convicted of first-degree murder in the 2012 “execution-style” murder of Anthony Ortega, District Attorney Jan Scully announced Wednesday.
The conviction of Andrew Jeffries, Robert Haven and Wendy Fong came with the special circumstance of lying in wait.
Prosecutors say Jeffries, a meth dealer, and Haven lured Ortega to a remote area and shot him in the back of the head. Fong is said to have loaned her car and given ammunition to Jeffries and Haven.
Investigators say Jeffries felt betrayed by Ortega.
The three will be sentenced Oct. 11. They face a maximum sentence of life without parole.
