Police say that a man decided to take matters into his own hands when he saw two suspects trying to make off with his truck’s catalytic converter.

The incident happened just after 2 p.m. near E. Hammer and West Lanes, according to Stockton Police logs. The 43-year-old man is said to have walked out of a restaurant in the area, only to see two men underneath his truck.

Not willing to let the men get away, the 43-year-old confronted the suspects and took the keys out of the ignition of the suspect’s car.

A security guard in the area soon came in to help and was able to detain one of the suspects.

However, the other suspect is said to have threatened to shoot the man’s wife. No gun was seen during the incident, but the suspect is said to have grabbed a screwdriver and waved it at the woman.

The suspect soon ran through the parking lot, with another witness giving chase in their car, hitting the suspect as he ran through the parking lot. The chase ended when the suspect picked up a rock and threatened to hit the other witness.

Police have arrested 35-year-old Sokpear Choun in connection to the incident. The other suspect is still on the run.
