SAN FRANCISCO—
Tim Lincecum will be staying a Giant, with the team announcing Tuesday that they had re-signed the two-time Cy Young Award winner.
The two-year deal (which will keep Lincecum a Giant through 2015) is believed to be worth $35 million, according to CBS’ Jon Heyman. The deal will be finalized pending a physical.
Lincecum is coming off what is arguably the two worst seasons of his seven-year career. The 2012 and 2013 campaigns saw Lincecum’s ERA balloon to 5.18 and 4.37, respectively.
However, Lincecum still managed to strike out a total of 383 batters over the past two seasons, according to Baseball-Reference.com.
The new contract comes at the end of another two-year deal Lincecum signed at before the 2012 season. That deal was worth $40.5 million.
