What’s On Tap for the Kings Home Opener?SACRAMENTO-

The Sacramento Kings said Wednesday that Assistant Coach Brendan Malone, head coach Michael’s dad, has resigned.

Malone joined the team in June. Assistant Coach Chris Jent will assume Malone’s responsibilities, the team said.

“His departure is not indicative of a loss of passion for the game or his desire to help our franchise succeed, but rather a decision based on factors associated with the rigors of coaching in the NBA,” Kings General Manager Pete D’Alessandro said in a written statement.

The Kings will play their regular season opener at home against the Denver Nuggets.
