Father and son – Jose Magana-Farias and Victor Farias – are now calling the San Joaquin County Jail home after what Sheriff’s deputies say happened where they used to live with a woman who was mother to one and once wife to the other.

“All we saw was some police cars and kids crying,” said a neighbor of Jose’s, who didn’t want to be identified.

He saw the Farias’ arrest wrap up on south Harrison Street in Stockton Saturday with two middle school-aged children left distraught about what was happening to their family.

From their cells, Jose and Victor refused FOX40’s offer to  share their side of this story Monday night.

They  were jailed for forcibly taking a woman who used to care for them both from her current home and bringing her back to a south Harrison Street address.

It’s a place neighbors say she left about a year ago after a divorce.

Father and son are accused of trying to cast out demons from her body.

“That’s just unheard of. He’s a nice guy. He’s a real nice guy. He works everyday – six days a week… just don’t expect something like that,” said Jose’s neighbor.

This neighbor said Jose is a doting father to his younger children and that his ex-wife had  recently been visiting his  home and the children she left behind, staying a few weeks at a time.

The kidnapped woman wasn’t hurt during the abduction and ritual, but the family bonds once fostered on south Harrison street may have been damaged forever.

Father and son are due in court on Wednesday.

In addition to the kidnapping and false imprisonment charges, Jose Farias is also jailed on a detainment order from the U.S. Border Patrol.
