The California Highway Patrol said Friday afternoon that traffic was backed up on the Capital City Overpass from Marconi Avenue because a van was hanging from the Marconi overpass.

Traffic in both directions slowed significantly, and officers say they are trying to get people to use Interstate 80 instead. Only one lane was open in each direction, and that part of Marconi was completely shut down.

Sacramento Police are calling the incident a hit-and-run and are looking for a maroon sedan. Only a partial plate number was taken down: 4JBW.

CHP said the driver of the van crawled out of the back door and made it out without a scratch.
