California Highway Patrol officers dealt with dozens of accidents all over Northern California during Wednesday’s rain storm, including several jackknifed big rigs.

Officers say avoiding most rain-related crashes is as simple as slowing down.

Clogged storm drains were also common after several hours of steady rain on Wednesday. FOX40 found a Caltrans crew working to drain a flooded section of roadway near the West Benjamin Holt onramp to Interstate 5.

In Tracy, part of a drainage ditch collapsed, sending water, mud and rocks across coral hollow road.

The next weather-related challenge across the region will be strong winds during the next few days.
