Throngs of people are coming out to Folsom Lake to check out the once submerged town now revealed by receding waters, there’s one man looking for something different – his brother.
“I will get him out of there,” an emotional Frank Wilcox said Thursday.
On January 1, 1965, 49 years ago, 15-year-old Glen Amick and three other people died when two planes on sightseeing tours collided over the lake. Wilcox was just a baby.
Navy divers were trying to recover the wreckage, some one hundred feet below the surface, when a terrible storm blew up on the lake and the effort had to be abandoned.
This year there are no storms in sight, and there haven’t been for months. Wilcox is hoping the dry conditions will finally beat back the lake enough to surrender his long-lost brother
The fall before he died, Glen Amick had been declared Roseville High School’s Junior Varsity Athlete of the Year.
