Law Enforcement Swarms Elkhorn Shopping Center in Search for Gunman

Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the deadly shooting of an O’Reilly Auto Parts employee Thursday night in the North Highlands area.

A heavy law enforcement presence set up a perimeter in the area of Elkhorn Boulevard and Butterball Way.

The employee was shot in the torso during the attempted robbery, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department said, and was taken to the hospital. Investigators later said that the employee died from injuries sustained in the shooting.

Investigators did not have a specific description of the gunman immediately available. He’s believed to have been stabbed in the ordeal.
