Two people and a dog were killed Monday night along Highway 99 near Galt.

California Highway Patrol officers say the late 90’s Saturn was heading northbound and drifted into the median. The driver then apparently over-corrected and veered into a tree near Mingo Road.

The car was split in half, investigators say.

The two people inside were not identified, though Highway Patrol said they were from Oakdale.

No one else was injured in the crash.
