Crews Search Folsom Lake for Decades-Old Plane Wreckage

Search crews using the receding waters of Folsom Lake as an opportunity to find the wreckage of a mid-air collision that happened nearly 50 years ago.

The aircraft went down New Year’s Day 1965. Back then, law enforcement attempted to recover the plane but the wreckage and the remains of those on board were never found.

Thursday, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office went out with family to try and recover three people believed to be in that plane.

Divers were on hand, in case anything was found but larger equipment would have to be brought in to get the plane out of the water.
