Police in Rocklin say they have arrested two young men on charges they tried to steal booze, then attacked the security guard who confronted them.
The incident happened Tuesday around 10:16 p.m. at a store along Crossings Drive, according to a release from the Rocklin Police Department. Dispatchers got a call about a pair of teens who had reportedly attacked a loss prevention officer when confronted about stealing some alcohol.
One of the teens – 18-year-old Loomis resident Kenna Martine Beck – was arrested inside the store. The other teen – 18-year-old Lincoln resident William Robert Hawkyard – is said to have driven away in a car.
Police saw the car merging onto I-80 and started a short chase. Hawkyard reportedly refused to pull over, and two Placer County Sheriff’s Department deputies joined in on the pursuit.
The car eventually stopped in Loomis, where Hawkyard eventually surrendered to authorities.
Hawkyard now faces robbery, burglary, conspiracy and evading a police officer charges. Beck faces charges of burglary, conspiracy and possession of marijuana. Both are being held at Placer County Jail.
