A dog was killed Thursday morning in a fire at the UC Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital.
The hospital said the dog had been getting treatment in the facility’s intensive care unit when the fire broke out.
“We are heartsick over the loss of this dog and extend our deepest sympathies to the client family. Hospital personnel are assisting the campus fire marshal in investigating the cause of this tragic fire,” Small Animal Clinic Director Jane Sykes said in a written statement.
Three hospital staff were said to have minor injuries.
