Ash Wednesday signaled the beginning of Lent but, for some, carving out an hour in the middle of a busy Wednesday is tough. That’s why Trinity Episcopal Cathedral set up “Ashes to Go” at four places in downtown Sacramento.
“We really want to make this available to people who don’t have that time as well we can have even a brief moment of prayer and exchange its a gift,” Rev. Megan Anderson said.
Many who didn’t think they would make it to church Wednesday were relieved that “Ashes to Go” was available in public places like Cesar Chavez Park.
“I think it is very convenient. I am on my lunch break and won’t be able to go to an evening mass, so I was very fortunate to hear about this on the news,” Linda Reader said.
Trinity Episcopal Cathedral plans to make this an annual tradition.
