The Google Barge has been met with great fanfare since arriving Thursday at the Port of Stockton.

But if you want to see the mysterious vessel, you’d better lace up your walking shoes.

“I wish it was closer, so I could get some photos of it,” Stockton resident Sydney Spurgeon said.

The Port of Stockton says you can get the best view at Dad’s Point in Louis Park, but that’s after about a half-mile walk. Stockton Police say that though crime is improving at Dad’s Point, it’s still known to be a dangerous area.

Another good vantage point is the Stockton Golf and Country Club. It’s private property, but that didn’t stop onlookers from showing up.

What’s inside because that has remained hush hush.

The golf course hired extra security to deal with Google Barge onlookers.
