Lad, the 9-month-old collie that had most of his lower jaw removed after being shot, arrived at the veterinary teaching hospital at UC Davis for special treatment.

The non-profit animal care group Arrow Fund collected donations to send Lad from Kentucky to California.

Lad will be looked after by doctors and begin to have surgeries within two weeks.

Aside from missing most of his lower jaw, vets say Lad is in good heath.
