It may have been dry on the way to work Monday, but by the afternoon it will be a different story.

Wet weather will move in to Northern California, bringing rain to the Valley and some significant snow to the Sierra.

With cold temperatures overnight, by Tuesday morning the snow could reach down to the foothills. Cities like Placerville could see two inches of snow. The towns of Colfax and Auburn could see a light dusting of snow once it gets cold enough.

The rest of the area will see rain on and off Monday afternoon through the night.

There is a chance for thunderstorms Monday afternoon.
