‘Big Wake Weekend’ Promoter Accused of Fraud

The promoter of Big Wake Weekend, an annual boat racing event in Lincoln, was arrested Tuesday by Placer County Sheriff’s deputies on charges of fraud.

Robert Richards Jr., 54, is accused of paying debts to vendors with bad checks. Investigators say Richards owed one vendor nearly $200,000.

Richards was was later released from jail on $10,000 bond.
