A safety rule at the amusement park, Boomers!, has a Muslim organization taking action.

A board member of the Muslim organization, CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) says people wearing headscarves and hijabs have been turned away from Boomers! go-cart ride because of their clothing.

Boomers! has locations in New York, Florida and throughout California, including Modesto.

In a statement to FOX40, Boomers! said “Safety is our number one priority. This is not a matter of race or religion. This is a matter of safety.”

The company said go-cart riders sit directly in front of the motor and in between two wheels, so there are many moving parts.

The board member, Dr. Masood Cajee, said other amusement parks have rides that are more intense but allow people to wear loose clothing.

“There are other amusement parks like Disneyland and Six Flags where this is no problem,” said Cajee.

CAIR board member Basim Elkarra said the organization filed three complaints with the Department of Fair Employment and Housing in the last month.

Cajee says he hopes everyone will be able to go to Boomers! soon and enjoy the rides.

“We have a much loved business…everyone should enjoy what they have to offer,” said Cajee.
