A man wanted for assaulting a woman near American River College is behind bars, and this is not his first time facing these charges.
Sacramento County deputies arrested David Dixon this week for assault with the intent to commit a felony, and false imprisonment. He is being held on a $1M bail.
Last month, a woman walking along the Arcade Creek nature trail behind the college reported being approached by a man on a bike. The man displayed a weapon and grabbed her by the arm. The woman was able to break free.
Investigators believe that man is Dixon. Dixon is a registered sex offender and served four years in 2006 for attacking a person with the intent to commit a sexual assault.
Deputies are also investigating a similar attack on the Arcade Creek trail in March, but they do not know if Dixon is connected to that incident.
The Sheriff’s Department is urging anyone who has information about either of these attacks to contact the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department at (916) 874-5070. Tip information may also be left anonymously at www.sacsheriff.com by entering the keyword ‘SSD’, or by calling (916) 874-TIPS (8477).
