The man accused of hitting two people and their four dogs and fleeing the scene while under the influence was convicted Tuesday afternoon in Sacramento County Superior Court.

Paul Walden was found guilty of murder, vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence and hit and run.

Harison Long-Randall and the four dogs were killed in the July 16, 2012 crash. He and his girlfriend, Gemily West, were walking near Garfield Avenue and Engle Road in Carmichael.

West says Long-Randall helped save her life by taking the brunt of the impact.

Walden was arrested three days later. He pleaded not guilty to his charges.
