Coming and going from I-5 will not be the same for Stockton for the next two months.

Starting Tuesday night, Caltrans will shut down the northbound on-ramp at Pershing Avenue, the first of four ramp closures over the next seven days.

“It is a nuisance because it takes a long time. You have to detour and especially at night time,” Sannette Stewart said.

The closures are part of Caltrans’ plan to widen and rebuild lanes, replace barriers and make other improvements from Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard to Country Club Boulevard

With construction already underway on other projects, drivers say the closures are too much.

“I go to school downtown, sometimes it takes twice as long to get to the other side,” Itzel Gallegos told FOX40.

Additional closures include the Country Club Boulevard southbound on-ramp and the Monte Diablo off-ramp on Friday, May 16th.

The southbound Monte Diablo on-ramp will close Monday, May 19th.
