Stockton Mayor Anthony Silva said in a Facebook post that he will be spending a night among the city’s homeless Thursday.

He says the event is to raise awareness for Stockton’s homeless population and to come up with possible solutions.

“I will be sleeping in a cardboard box or tent,” Mayor Silva said.

Silva will be joined by members of the Homeless Commission.

The event will include dinner, snacks, music and a movie. It starts at 5 p.m. under the I-5 overpass at Church Street and South Harrison Street.
