Sacramento FC will go head to head with the Ventura County Fusion in a second-round matchup in the 2014 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The match will be held at Cosusmnes River College Stadium. The winner of the match will play on May 28 in the third round of the U.S. Open Cup.

The match will kickoff Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10, and no tailgating or alchohol is allowed on campus.

The U.S. Open Cup is the country’s oldest soccer competition. The tournament consists of 80 teams, consisting of 38 professional soccer teams and 42 amateur teams.

Republic FC head coach, “Preki” Radosavljević, is suspended for the first two matches of U.S. Open Cup play stemming from an incident in 2009 while he was head coach of Chivas USA.

“The Open Cup means a lot because it is an opportunity to gain recognition on a nationwide scale,” said Republic FC Technical Director Graham Smith. “It would be indicative of our ability to compete at a higher level both on and off the field.”
