Man Attacks Cabbie for Taxi, Leads Deputies on Chase

A man reportedly stole a taxi cab, then after a chase with deputies, he allegedly slammed into a patrol car before being arrested.

Sunday night just after 10, a man assaults a taxi cab driver in the parking lot of the 7-11 near Watt and Whitney Avenues. The cabbie was pulled out of the car and hit, before the man jumped in the car and took off, leaving the injured driver behind.

Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies picked up the stolen cab heading west on Highway 50 into downtown.

Near 5th and V Streets, the suspect rammed into a deputy’s car, damaging his front tire. He was arrested and will face charges of carjacking and assault with a deadly weapon on an officer, among others.
