A Lake County mother tells FOX40 she left her baby at a Sacramento truck stop Monday by accident.

“I am loving mother. I am a good mom.” Christina Reed said from the Sacramento County Jail. “In my head, he thought I was with her and I thought he was with her.”

Her 6-week-old daughter, Abigial, was left at the truck stop off of El Camino Avenue in Sacramento for 90 minutes, according to investigators, before Reed came back.

It happened, she says, after she and her husband got into an argument. The two split up, leaving the baby by itself in between an ash tray and a trash can.

Truck stop employees told FOX40 the baby was found with dried feces on her, and a distinct odor.

Even so, Reed says it was a miscommunication, and that all she wanted was a few minutes to cool off.

“I needed a timeout,” Reed, 36, said.

Reed was arrested on felony child endangerment charges. Investigators are still looking for her husband.

The 6-week-old baby was taken in to child protective custody.
