Erratic winds fueled the quickly-spreading Hunters Fire in Mariposa County.
By 7:15 Tuesday night, the fire had spread 1,300 acres and consumed three buildings – including two unoccupied homes.
The fire’s expected path takes it over a ridge into a less-populated area, but firefighters worry the wind could change that.
Five people were injured since the fire began Monday, including one inmate firefighter who reportedly had a laceration from a chainsaw.
The fire remained at 20 percent containment Tuesday night.
