A man convicted of hit-and-run and murder is sentenced to 25 years to life in prison Friday.
In July 2012, Gemily West and Harison Long-Randall were walking their four dogs in Carmichael, when they were hit in the crosswalk.
The driver, Paul Walden, took off and was arrested a few days later.
Harison died a few weeks after the crash from his injuries. He reportedly pushed Gemily out of the way of the car; she suffered a broken leg. All four of the dogs were killed in the crash.
Last month, Walden was convicted of second-degree murder, vehicular manslaughter, hit-and-run and driving under the influence.
