Sacramento’s iconic Tower Café is facing a class action lawsuit from two  former employees.

According to the cafe’s owner, two disgruntled former employees claim they were not paid overtime hours, and were not able to take meal and rest breaks.

The employees say they were not relieved of all duties to take 30-minute meal break periods, and that during 2012, a new timecard system automatically recorded a break, even when one was not taken.

The lawsuit is seeking several million dollars in damages; to cover what they consider to be lost wages, attorney’s fees and interest.

The staff who are part of the lawsuit are seeking $2 million for missed breaks and $2 million for overtime that they say was not paid.
