Authorities are continuing to investigate the officer-involved-shooting that happened near a campsite in Grass Valley.
Saturday just before 3 pm, a California Highway Patrol officer assisted a Bureau of Land Management agent who was apprehending a male suspect. The three exchanged gunfire.
CHP Spokesperson Greg Tassone told FOX40 the suspect and BLM agent suffered gunshot wounds, and were air-transported to Sutter Roseville Hospital, where they are receiving treatment.
The CHP Officer was treated at a local hospital, and is expected make a full recovery.
Saturday evening, CHP officers detained another party in rconnection to the incident.
“So the public does not need to be looking for anyone else as far as we know, those are the only people who were involved in it,” Tassone said.
The reason for the initial gunfight is still unknown, and the identities of the 3 involved has not yet been released.
CHP has asked the Nevada County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI to lead the investigation.
