A small grass fire has quickly turned into a 5-alarm fire burning multiple homes in Cordelia, in Solano County.

The fire broke out east of I-680 and south of I-80. The fire shut down northbound I-680 because of heavy smoke, but according to California CHP, the lanes have since reopened.

Several homes along Richie Road are being evacuated, and Ramsey Road has been closed. Multiple homes have been destroyed, and the fire is continuing to spread.

Located near the fire are some of the oldest homes in Cordelia, as well as several small businesses, including Thompson’s Corner, a local favorite dive bar.
