A person has been arrested in connection to Sonora’s first homicide in almost 13 years.
Members of the Sonora Police Department and Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Department made contact with Cheryl Lucero, 45, of Twain Harte.
Harte was a person of interest in the investigation into the killing of 49-year-old Rick Roberts.
Roberts was shot dead inside of his auto shop on Mono Way the morning of February 16. Robert’s homicide was the first in Sonora in more than 13 years.
During the investigation, Lucero, an acquaintance of Roberts, reportedly admitted her involvement in Robert’s killing.
Lucero was arrested without incident and booked into Tuolumne County Jail.
Lucero’s bail has been set at $1 million.
The next day police obtained a search warrant and served it at Lucero’s home. Police seized items as evidence and sent them to the California Department of Justice Lab in Ripon for analysis.
The investigation is ongoing. No further information has been released at this time.
