Sacramento Mountain Lion Found

The mountain lion that several people saw throughout east Sacramento was found and safely captured by officials on X street.

The Mountain Lion that people saw several times in east Sacramento throughout Saturday morning has been safely captured by the Department of Fish and Wildlife, according to Sacramento Police Department.

A person saw the mountain lion on 32nd and X st in Sacramento, and called authorities. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife set up a perimeter on Saturday night around 10:21 p.m.

An officer from the Sacramento Police Department was the first to respond. He saw the mountain lion inside a yard. Backup showed up and the officers secured the area to wait for the Department of Fish and Wildlife officials.

The wardens and officers found the mountain lion in the yard and were able to sedate him without any problems.

No officers or residents were hurt by the mountain lion during its stint in the city. The big cat is a male, approximately 1 1/2 years old, and weighs 70 pounds.
