Vacaville Wildfire Caused by Grass Cutting

About 15 acres were burned Tuesday in Vacaville after farm equipment sparked flames along Shady Creek Lane.

Dubbed the “Shady Fire” by Cal Fire, its flames got dangerously close to homes but did not cause any damage to structures or people.

The man said to have started the fire says he’s cut grass in the afternoon for years without any problem, but Cal Fire officials say exceptionally dry conditions increase the region’s fire danger greatly.

Any type of mowing should be done before 10 a.m., Cal Fire said.
