Some residents at a Ceres apartment complex were jumping from 2nd-story windows Monday when a fire broke out, firefighters said.

The fire started shortly after 4 p.m. at the Vineyard Apartments on Richland Avenue.

Several agencies had to be dispatched to the fire, because heat and hydration was an issue for firefighters. Ambulances were also sent to the scene to aid jumpers.

A baby was dropped from a window to neighbors below, residents said.

No one was reported to have been hurt.

It was not immediately known how the fire started.
