Officers were in the right place at the right time, as a robbery suspect walked right in front of their parked car in North Sacramento.

The robbery victim was able to call Sacramento Police Monday to report the incident from a few days ago.

She told officers the suspect, who she knew, punched her in the face and took her purse.

Around 5 a.m., as officers were pulling up the suspect’s previous mugshot on their in-car computer system, the suspect walked in front of their car.

“He walked in front of their car just as they were looking at his mugshot. They tried to stop the individual, got into a foot pursuit,” Sergeant William McCoin, with the Sacramento Police Department, said.

The man would not stop, and officers say they had to use a taser to bring him into custody. The chase happened along Redwood Avenue, north of Del Paso Boulevard.

The suspect is a parolee-at-large, and after he is checked out at the hospital, he will be booked into jail on various charges.
