More than 60 California Highway Patrol cadets woke up extra early Wednesday morning for a traditional run through Sacramento.
The cadets left their West Sacramento CHP academy and headed east to the fallen officers memorial near the state capitol. Dozens of friends and family lined the route.
The annual run is a tradition for graduating CHP cadets to honor fallen officers before their official graduation ceremony. This year’s recruits will be sworn in on Friday.
More than 100 men and women started the 27-week training program, and 66 will be graduating this week.
They will be stationed at CHP locations throughout the state.
