Crews Battling Large Fire in Amador County

UPDATE (10:20 p.m.): The fire is now 20% contained. One minor injury has been reported.

UPDATE (8:25 p.m.): According to Cal Fire, the fire has now expanded to between 1200-1300 acres.

A 300-acre fire is burning off Sand Ridge Road near the Amador County and El Dorado County border, just outside Plymouth.

The fire broke out just after 5 p.m. and has consumed two structures, according to the Amador County Sheriff’s office.

Officials say the fire is located around 100-300 feet into the canyon.

Evacuations are in place for those on Sand Ridge Road, Fresh Water, Burlwood, Morales Ranch Road, Vintage Trail, Upton Road and Twin Rivers Road.

In addition, Highway 50 southbound to Highway 49 El Dorado at Sand Ridge was closed for a couple hours, but has been reopened. Both sides of Sand Ridge Road are still closed.

The Sacramento City Fire Department has sent two engines and a BC strike team to assist those already fighting the fire. A VLAT (Very Large Air Tanker) was sent to the scene.
