A couple, concerned about a child left alone in a hot car, called police. But they are the ones who are the victims, after the child’s mother ran them over.

Shannon Dominguez is confined to a wheelchair now, and doctors say she may never walk the same again.

It started last month, when Dominguez and her boyfriend, Alan Mason, saw a child in a car in a parking lot.

“All four windows were rolled up. And it was in the direct sun. It scares the heck out of me. It’s some innocent child might die,” Dominguez told KDVR.

They called police, and while on the phone, the child’s mother showed up.

The woman, Kristina Riddell, got upset when she heard Dominguez on the phone with police, and threatened to beat her up, and punched Mason in the face.

Then, Dominguez says, Riddell started her car and accelerated toward her and Mason. Mason went over the hood of the car, Dominguez grabbed onto the door, but Riddell allegedly dragged her without stopping, until she let go.

Dominguez’ leg was crushed, and she had internal bleeding.

“She (Riddell) gets to work every day. She gets to cook for her family. She gets to go out on the weekends with her family. I can’t do any of that,” Dominguez said.

But the couple says they would do it all over again. “If it means helping a child, I’d do it in a heartbeat,” Dominguez said.

Riddell was arrested later in the day by police. She reportedly has an extensive criminal record. She now faces hit-and-run, assault and child abuse charges.
